Preparing your Home for Fall
Preparing your Home for Fall
As the seasons
change, it is important to pay attention to the health of your home. Paying
attention to the small fixes and safeguarding your home during on
seasonal weather changes, can preserve the longevity of your home. Here is a
checklist of items that are important to complete during the Fall Season.
·
Pay attention to your Gutters: Make sure all
gutters and downspouts are clean, free of leaves and are undamaged. As the
rainy season approaches you want to make sure water is directed away from your
home so as to not cause problems with your roof, foundation, etc.
·
Check all
windows and doors for gaps: Seal all gaps in windows and doors with
weather-stripping and caulking. You want to protect the interior of your home
from the elements as well as keep your energy bill low.
·
Inspect your
roof: Get on top of your roof and inspect for any leaks,
corrosion or damage to shingles. The last thing you want is a leak in the roof
causing damage outside as well as inside your home.
·
Inspect all
walkways and driveways: Make sure you fix loose pavers and cracks in
walkways and driveways so that as the slippery weather approaches you can
eliminate people tripping or falling.
· Prune/Trim
large tree branches and shrubs in your garden/lawn: When windy weather occurs you want to prevent
damage done to your home as much as possible from the nature in your own
backyard.
